BP p.l.c is responsible for this website, which is governed by the laws of England. The courts of England shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of your use of it. These education service and materials are managed for BP p.l.c by We are Futures, which is the trading name for AccessAbility Marketing Ltd., Reg No. 05082340, registered office: 73 Cornhill, London, EC3V 3QQ.
 

We take your privacy seriously and want you to understand our practices with respect to the handling of your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we do this. This website has different sub-sites for BP business, products and services, which may also have their own privacy policies. Please read these if you visit our sub-sites.  
 

Collection and use of personal information
 

If during your visit to this website you wish to download content and access our free resources, you will be prompted to create an account. For legitimate business reasons, we will need to know certain information about you and your organisation in order to provide tailored services. We will only use your personal information to provide the information, products or services which you actively opted-in to receive.

Where you have subscribed to receive our newsletter(s) or marketing communications, we will collect information relating to your interactions with that communication, such as whether you receive, open or click on a link within an email communication. We offer you the option to unsubscribe at all times from further communications.
 

Disclosures and transfers of personal information

Any transfer of personal data to this site will be secured by encryption. We may store or transfer your personal data to our other BP companies around the world.  We do this under our group-wide Binding Corporate Rules, which guarantee an adequate level of data protection wherever your data is physically kept.
 

We also use the services of third-party service providers to host our webcasts and offer technical support. Any third-party provider we appoint must act in accordance with our written instructions when processing your personal data and must protect your personal data in line with the contractually required security measures.  Where we store or transfer your personal data to a third party provider based outside the European Economic Area, we take steps to ensure your personal data is adequately protected. 
 

We reserve the right to disclose your personal data as required by law, or when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, request from a regulator or any other legal process served on BP. If there is a takeover, sale or purchase of our business, we may disclose your personal data to the new (or prospective) owner of the business.

Your rights

If you are in the EU, you also have the right to raise a privacy concern with the Data Protection Authority established in the relevant EU country. However, please consider using BP’s EU-approved complaint resolution mechanism under our BCRs using the contact address set out above.


Third party websites we link to

Our website may contain links to third-party sites. This privacy statement does not apply to those third party sites. We recommend that you read the privacy statements of any other sites that you visit as we cannot accept responsibility for the privacy practices of these sites which may be different to ours.

 

When you register, you are offered the facility to use an address look-up service provided to us by a third party called SPIRIT. This is a UK based database of schools supplied to us by The Education Company Ltd. We use this database to gather supplemental information, such as your school postcode. This allows us to simplify your registration process and monitor which resources you open to assist us in our development of new resources.

 

Freedom of information enquiries

If you represent a public authority governed by the Freedom of Information Act and you wish to consult with a BP stakeholder about a potential disclosure of BP information pursuant to a request you have received please email privacy3@bp.com giving your name, the name of the public authority you represent, your contact details, the nature of the request and the deadline for disclosure and a responsible BP person will contact you.
 

Children

BP does not knowingly collect information from children except in the instance of collecting information on entrants to the Ultimate Stem Challenge. For more information, see the Ultimate STEM Challenge Privacy Policy.
 

Changes to the privacy policy

We may update this privacy statement from time to time and recommend that you revisit it on occasion to see the latest version. This statement was last updated in January 2019.
